Abstract

In recent years, the role of gut microbiota and its key metabolites, short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), in acute pancreatitis (AP) has gained significant attention. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), as an important traditional medical system, demonstrates unique potential in regulating gut microbiota balance and treating AP. This review explores recent research progress on TCM intervention in AP through modulation of the gut microbiota-SCFAs axis, to provide novel insights and strategies for the prevention and treatment of AP.
