Abstract

This review summarizes the theory and clinical application of the “cutting pus and growing flesh” method in chronic wound management, synthesizing the mechanisms of moist pus induction, stage-based dressing, herbal hot compresses, and classic pastes. It evaluates the advantages and limitations of combining these approaches with modern technologies, outlines future directions for mechanistic studies and multicenter validation, and provides insights for the modernization of external Chinese medicine.
