A Discussion on the Pathogenesis and Current Treatment of Vitiligo of the Qi and Blood Deficiency Type Based on the Theory of Qi and Blood Disharmony

Abstract

Vitiligo, a refractory skin disease, is closely related to the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory of qi and blood. Based on the theory of qi and blood disharmony, this study systematically explores the pathogenetic characteristics and treatment strategies for vitiligo of the qi and blood deficiency type. The study found that qi and blood deficiency is a key pathological link in the progression of qi and blood disharmony and is significantly correlated with the progression of vitiligo lesions. Through a combination of literature analysis and clinical observation, it was confirmed that interventions targeting the stage of qi and blood deficiency can effectively halt disease progression. Modern pharmacological research further reveals that traditional Chinese medicines that tonify qi and nourish blood exert therapeutic effects by regulating melanocyte function. This study provides new evidence for the TCM pattern differentiation of vitiligo and lays a theoretical foundation for the development of treatment regimens targeting the regulation of qi and blood.
