Melasma is a common skin pigmentation disorder characterized by symmetrical pigmented patches on the face, usually on the forehead, cheekbones, upper lip and chin. Although this disease is not life-threatening, it causes harm to the patient’s appearance and mental health, and seriously affects the quality of life of the patient. In recent years, with the increasing emphasis on skin beauty, melasma has become one of the hot topics of research. However, the pathogenesis of melasma and its therapeutic aspects remain many unsolved mysteries, which provides broad space and challenges for our research.
