Cross boundary search has attracted scholarly attention as a key driver of sustainable growth by enabling firms to overcome cognitive inertia. Drawing on resource dependence theory, this study constructs a theoretical framework and empirically tests it using survey data from trading enterprises. The results reveal that cross boundary search significantly enhances firm growth, and this effect is mediated by relational capital and cognitive flexibility. Based on these findings, the paper offers practical recommendations for intensifying boundary spanning activities, expanding external networks, and strengthening organizational cognitive adaptability to foster long term development.
